Wearing the Shiv Tilak is a sacred practice among devotees of Lord Shiva. - Daily Rituals: Many devotees apply the tilak after their morning bath and prayers as a daily practice to invoke Shiva’s blessings and as a mark of devotion.
- Auspicious Occasions: On festivals like Mahashivratri, Pradosh, or Mondays (considered auspicious for Shiva), wearing the tilak is especially significant.
- Spiritual Practices: Sadhakas and yogis may wear it before meditation, chanting, or spiritual sadhana to purify the mind and body and to remind themselves of Lord Shiva’s presence.
How to wear: The tilak is usually applied on the forehead with three horizontal lines (tripundra), symbolizing Shiva’s attributes and the burning of ego, ignorance, and bad karma.
