A Shiva Linga split into three parts can be interpreted in various ways. In some traditions, it may symbolize the three fundamental powers (Trimurti): creation (Brahma), preservation (Vishnu), and destruction (Shiva). However, generally, a broken or damaged Linga is not used for worship, as it is considered inauspicious.
2. Cultural Practice:
According to Agama Shastras and Puranas, a broken or split Shiva Linga should not be worshipped. Instead, it is advised to respectfully immerse it in a river or install a new Linga for worship. This is because the completeness of the Linga represents the wholeness and indivisibility of Shiva.
