What is Pradosh Vrat?

Pradosh Vrat is a highly auspicious fast dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, observed during the Pradosh Kaal—the twilight period of the 13th lunar day (Trayodashi Tithi) in both the waxing (Shukla Paksha) and waning (Krishna Paksha) phases of the moon. This vrat is believed to remove past sins, fulfill desires, and grant divine blessings.

How to Observe Pradosh Vrat?

1️⃣ Wake Up Early & Take a Holy Bath – Maintain cleanliness and wear white or saffron clothes.
2️⃣ Observe Fasting – Devotees keep a partial or full fast (fruits, milk, or water-only fasting).
3️⃣ Perform Shiva Puja during Pradosh KaalOne and a half hours before sunset is the most auspicious time.
4️⃣ Offerings to Lord Shiva – Bilva leaves, sandalwood, Akshata (rice), water, honey, and ghee lamps.
5️⃣ Recite Pradosh Katha & Shiva Stotras – Chant Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra or Shiva Panchakshari Mantra (ॐ नमः शिवाय).
6️⃣ Visit a Shiva Temple – If possible, perform Abhishekam with milk, honey, and water.
7️⃣ Distribute Prasad – Conclude the vrat by offering Prasad to family members or the needy.
