Uma Samhita
The Uma Samhita is a significant section of the Shiva Purana, dedicated primarily to the goddess Uma, another name for Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva.
The verse "जराबोध तद्विविड्ढि विशेविशे यज्ञियाय। स्तोमꣳ रुद्राय दृशीकम्॥१५॥" is a Vedic invocation directed towards Rudra, a fierce and protective aspect of the divine, often associated with the god Shiva.
"जराबोध तद्विविड्ढि" translates to "Understand this, O wise one." This phrase is an appeal to Rudra, asking him to recognize and be aware of the sincere devotion and the sacred intentions of the devotees. The term "जराबोध" suggests deep wisdom and awareness, indicating that Rudra is being approached with respect and reverence.
"विशेविशे यज्ञियाय" means "for each tribe, for the one worthy of sacrifice." This line indicates that the invocation is made on behalf of different communities or tribes, all of whom consider Rudra worthy of their sacrifices and rituals. It reflects the universal reverence for Rudra across different groups.
"स्तोमꣳ रुद्राय दृशीकम्" translates to "We offer hymns and praise to Rudra." The verse emphasizes the act of offering praises (Stoma) to Rudra, recognizing his fierce and protective nature. "दृशीकम्" refers to the hymns or chants that are specially crafted for Rudra, acknowledging his power and seeking his protection.
Overall, this verse highlights the importance of invoking Rudra with sacred hymns and praises, recognizing his role as a powerful protector and a deity worthy of devotion.
