Kailashapada Samhita
This part describes the different sacred places associated with Shiva worship.
Sanskrit Verse:
अग्निं दूतं वृणीमहे होतारं विश्ववेदसम्
अस्य यज्ञस्य सुक्रतुम्
Translation:
"We choose Agni as our messenger, the priest who knows all, the knower of the universe. He is the orchestrator of this spiritual sacrifice."
Interpretation:
This verse reveres Agni as the divine messenger and priest who is deeply knowledgeable and present throughout the cosmos. Agni, as the priest, is crucial in conducting the spiritual sacrifice (yajna) and guiding it to its rightful success.
Just as a messenger brings messages between parties, Agni brings divine qualities like truth, non-violence, non-stealing, celibacy, non-possession, justice, knowledge, faith, and wisdom into our lives. He acts as a conduit to bring these virtues closer to us and integrate them into our spiritual practice. Therefore, worshippers are encouraged to honor Agni as this divine messenger who facilitates the emergence of these sacred qualities.
