Meaning of the hymn
Ashutosh Shashank Shekhar
Chandra Mauli Chidambara
Crores of salutations to Shambhu
Crores of prostrations to Digambara
You are Nirvikar (unchanging), Omkara (the primordial sound), and indestructible
You are the Lord of all gods
The creator and the destroyer of the world
Shiva is the ultimate truth and the embodiment of beauty
Formless, the embodiment of time, and the great Yogi
The ocean of compassion and the giver of boons
Victory to you, who wears matted hair and is the source of fearlessness
Holder of the trident, who carries the trident
The one who is adorned with a tiger skin
Victory to Mahesh, the three-eyed one
The Lord of the universe, the all-pervading one
O Lord of the Nagas (serpents), the remover of sins and curses
Great God, the benevolent and simple one
Eternal Shiva, the auspicious one
Forever, Shiva, the benefactor
O Lord of the universe, who is the source of devotion
Always at your feet, I seek forgiveness for all offenses
Victory, victory to the Lord of the world
In this life and the world,
May all sorrows and afflictions be removed
Om Namah Shivaya
May the Panchakshara (five-syllable mantra) be chanted always
