Mystic Mantra of Shiva: Shiv Shadakshar Stotram

ॐकारं बिन्दुसंयुक्तं नित्यं ध्यायन्ति योगिनः।
कामदं मोक्षदं चैव ॐकाराय नमो नमः॥१॥

नमन्ति ऋषयो देवा नमन्त्यप्सरसां गणाः।
नरा नमन्ति देवानां नकाराय नमो नमः॥२॥

महादेवं महात्मानं महाध्यानं परायणम्।
महापापहरं देवं मकाराय नमो नमः॥३॥

शिवं शांतं जगन्नाथं लोकानुग्रहकारकम्।
शिवमेकपदं नित्यं शिकाराय नमो नमः॥४॥

वाहनं वृषभो यस्य वासुकिः कंठभूषणम्।
वामे शक्तिधरं देवं वकाराय नमो नमः॥५॥

यत्र यत्र स्थितो देवः सर्वव्यापी महेश्वरः।
यो गुरु: सर्वदेवानां यकाराय नमो नमः॥६॥

Translation and Meaning:

Omkaram Bindusamyuktam Nityam Dhyaayanti Yoginah Kaamadam Mokshadam Chaiva Omkaraaya Namo Namah

  • Salutations to the Omkara, the sacred syllable 'Om' combined with the bindu (dot), which yogis meditate upon constantly. It grants desires and liberation.

Namanti Rishayo Devaa Namantyapsarasaam Ganaah Naraa Namanti Devaanaam Nakaraaya Namo Namah

  • Salutations to the syllable 'Na', to which sages, gods, groups of celestial beings, and humans bow down.

Mahadevam Mahaatmaanam Mahaadhyaanam Paraayanam Mahaa Paapaharam Devam Makaraaya Namo Namah

  • Salutations to the syllable 'Ma', representing the great Lord, the great soul, the ultimate object of meditation, and the one who removes great sins.

Shivam Shaantam Jagannaatham Lokaanugrahakaarakam Shivameka Padam Nityam Shikaaraaya Namo Namah

  • Salutations to the syllable 'Shi', representing the auspicious, peaceful Lord of the universe, the benefactor of the world, and the eternal, singular position.

Vaahanam Vrishabho Yasya Vaasuki Kanthabhooshanam Vaame Shaktidharm Devam Vakaaraaya Namo Namah

  • Salutations to the syllable 'Va', representing the Lord whose vehicle is the bull, who adorns the serpent Vasuki around his neck, and who holds the Shakti on his left side.
