महिम्नः पारं ते परमविदुषो यद्यसदृशी स्तुतिर्ब्रह्मादीनामपि तदवसन्नास्त्वयि गिरः।

अथावाच्यः सर्वः स्वमतिपरिणामावधि गृणन् ममाप्येष स्तोत्रे हर निर्पुणता मा भवति॥ १॥

अतित्थात्वाच्छार्यं वत यदिह तुर्वोचितमभूः क्व यज्यो यद्रक्षा तनुभुविभिदाक्रोशजनका।

कनयाम्प्राप्तोरुक्षयविबुधकुकुम्भाप्यधिकसः न मा मोहः कश्चिद्धर न भवती तत्ते महिमा॥ २॥

मनोवाग्वृत्त्यद्वा क्षुत्क्षितिरसवनव्याकरजुषाम् तवाशीर्भूतानां नु तनुपतितीनां रक्षणतुलः।

शिवः क्लेशान्मुक्तः स खलु सहते यस्तव जयः न कस्याप्याश्चर्यं हरचरितमाद्यं स्वविषयं॥ ४॥

अथाऽवाच्यः सर्वः स्वमतिपरिणामावधि गृणन् ममाप्येष स्तोत्रे हर निर्पुणता मा भवति।

क्वा यत्पारं क्व चान्यद्दुरितमथ यन्नाम गुणिनः स्वकं धाम वा तद्भजत पुनरायाति महिमा॥ ५॥

उमासाहायं भ्रामकमपराधारितनय संसारक्लीशनं शिवशिव समस्तं ह्रदनया।

मम प्राणस्त्राता भव न भवति जीवितमुचो तवाज्ञाविघ्नानां बहुलमपि मन्ये महिमनः॥ ६॥

अविद्यायां भूमावति मनसि तु स्वामिनि सदा भवेतस्मिन्किं वा तव कुशलमतां तात कुतः।

कथंचिद्धेः सर्वं जयति सुशमं स्वेन भवता महात्मस्ते शम्भो करुणमिदमाचक्षु नमः॥ ७॥

Meaning:

If the praises of Brahma and other deities cannot reach your greatness, then what can be said of an ignorant person like me? Whatever words I use to praise you, let them be as they are, O Shiva. You are beyond words and comprehension, and I pray that my lack of skill in composing this hymn does not become an obstacle.

O Lord, your greatness surpasses all bounds of comprehension. You are the essence of all sacrifices, the destroyer of the three worlds' suffering, yet you performed the menial task of a guardian. You became a beggar, bearing a skull bowl, yet I do not waver in my faith, for this is the greatness of your divine play.

Everyone praises you to the best of their intellectual capacity, and I am doing the same in this hymn. Even if my words do not fully capture your greatness, O Shiva, do not let my lack of skill detract from the value of my devotion. Your greatness is infinite and surpasses all comprehension.

With Goddess Uma by your side, you dance and dispel the delusions of the world. You are the savior of those who suffer in the cycle of birth and death. O Shiva, my only request is that you be my protector and deliver me from this worldly existence. I know that your grace can overcome any obstacle.

In the realm of ignorance, O Lord, if one always thinks of you with a pure heart, then what can harm them? O father, where is the end of your benevolence? By some means, you ensure that everything turns out well for your devotees. O great soul, Shambhu, I bow to your mercy and compassion.
